AWPCP Now Supports WP 3.0 + Category Ordering

After extensive testing, I can confidently say that there are no major issues with WP 3.0 and AWPCP. While working on this testing effort, I also ran into an unrelated issue with an up-and-coming plugin: Simple Facebook Connect by Otto. My plugin was out of compliance on standard WordPress shortcode usage and users of SFC were running into weird header issues with AWPCP.

Those header inclusion issues are now completely fixed and I am happy to say that AWPCP now complies with the shortcode API per WordPress standards.

In addition, due to popular request, I’ve added the ability to change the ordering of your categories. Now you’re not limited to alphabetic order. Check out Settings -> Categories for the gory details and enjoy!

Other bug fixes: You no longer see \\\\\’ for embedded quotes in posts (title, description, etc), fixed an issue with image uploading where the upload directory didn’t exist.

Please upgrade to 1.0.6.12 to get these fixes. Also, there is a NEW translation file available for this version as I had to reorganize the plugin’s structure to accommodate this fix.

Please use this new forum instead of the comment section of the site for any support requests. The forum is also linked from the top menu under “Support”.

My goal is to centralize support, FAQs and documentation into a single location to make it easier for you to get the info you need and to search past efforts.

Category Icons Module Update

RSS Module soon to become available

For those of you who have asked for an RSS module, a premium module for syndicating your latest listings will be available soon. The module will allow users to subscribe to receive your latest listing feeds. You determine how many of your latest listings to make available in the feed. You will be able show your feeds with images included or without.The feeds will include the listing title and an excerpt of the listing details.

Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin Version 1.0.6 released

Version 1.0.6 of Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin has finally been released. As always, please backup your database and files before you update your copy of the plugin. If after updating you are having problems you were not having before please post a report in the form of a comment to this post.

What’s new in Version 1.0.6

There is nothing new in Version 1.0.6 except that it is optimized for use with the Extra Fields Module. Nothing has been structurally changed. There have been some bug fixes as reported below:

BUG FIX:* The problem with the reply-to link in emails ( the “to” is joined to the email address so you have something like reply toemail@address.xxx
BUG FIX: * Some people are having problems with the Delete Ad link where users cannot delete their ads. Delete link changed to button to pass data in more reliable manner.
BUG FIX: Pager bug created problem for admins using default permalink structure whereby they could not navigate beyond page 1 of their view listings page
BUG FIX:* Admin image management cleaned up a bit. There were some problems where after you deleted a picture from the admin it did not reload the pictures but reported “no images found”. This was because of a problem in the pager. The Delete/Approve/Disable links are now buttons to better transfer data for processing.

If you had reported a bug that you were waiting on to be fixed and it has not been fixed to date, please post a new report about it by leaving a comment.

Alert: It cannot be stressed enough the importance of backing up your database and files before updating your copy of Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin. Please abide by the ounce of prevention rule so that, in the event of any problems, you will be able to restore your files and data.

Search bug fix to become available by Monday

This is to publicly thank user Rembert for his assistance in pinpointing the cause of the error with the keyword search and providing a solution. The fix will be available in the next scheduled update. Barring the discovery of any critical bugs that delay release the update should be available by end of the day Monday. (End of the day Eastern Standard Time US)

Rembert has also provided some improvements to the admin only can post ads feature, however those improvements have not yet been implement in the core.

There is a bug in the keyword search in latest version 1.0.5.8. It is being resolved. The fix will be released in version 1.0.5.9. If you’re having problems with other aspects of the search in the meantime please leave a comment about it. Thanks to all who brought this problem to my attention

Admin can now change the size of thumbnail in ad listings view

For those of you who have asked to be able to control the size of the thumbnail shown on the browse ads and search results pages, you now have an option in your admin for setting your preferred thumbnail width. Height will adjust based on proportions. To change the thumbnail width, go to Classifieds->Settings->Ad/Listing Settings or Classifieds->Manage General Options->Ad/Listing Settings and change the value in the field

For best results please keep in mind the thumbnail width set in Classifieds->Settings->Image Settings (or Classifieds->Manage General Options->Image Settings).

Making your width for the thumbnails in the ad listings view page wider than the width for thumbnails created upon upload will result in image stretching and loss of quality dependent on how much stretching is done.

Many of you have asked to have the option to decide if you want your ads to be displayed by ad title or by most recent ads first. In version 1.0.5.8 you can now control how your ads will be displayed. There are 6 options which you can set from your dashboard Classifieds->Settings->Ad/Listing Settings or Classifieds->Manage General Options->Ad/Listing Settings The options available

Version 1.0.5.8 fixes Listing Fees Bug

The listing fees bug reported in version 1.0.5.7 has been fixed in version 1.0.5.8 which has now been released. The bug in question: updating current listings was resulting in a new listing being created and the delete option was missing so listings could not be deleted. Updating bug has been fixed and delete button has been replaced.

Note that if you try to delete fee plans that have already been used by customers you will not be able to delete the plan until you reassign the ads that were registered under that plan to a new plan.
