Show ads path

With search engine friendly URLs turned on, your individual ad pages are displayed using a method that relies on the ad URL passing the ad ID to the function that displays the ad.

Example URL: http://www.awpcp.com/classifieds/show-ad/36/4-Dolce–Gabanna-dresses-for-sale/Reno/Nevada/USA/Clothing__Accessories/

When the URL above is clicked, the show ad function must first grab the ad ID in order to proceed with retrieving the ad data, setting it up and then displaying it to the viewer. To grab the ad ID, it splits the URL into it’s various parts and refers to value set in the classifieds admin option “SEO Settings”  option below to determine which part of the URL is the ad ID.

If show ad links not working in seo mode change value until correct path is found. Start at 1

In the case above it is told the third part of the url (after the main domain) is the ad ID, but as you can see from the table below, the third part of the example URL above is actually the ad title; so that means the function would be receiving the incorrect value by default as it relates to this particular installation. The ad ID is actually in position 2 so it would be necessary to change the value in the input field above from 3 to 2 for the show ad page to work correctly.

Where the ad ID is located in your URL will depend on your installation. If the default value of 3 does not work, then simply change it to your correct value. If you cannot tell the correct value by looking at your URL, just play with numbers. One will work.
