Thanks for that Roberta. You and I had the same reaction, but Jeff’s issue is with View Categories, not Browse Cats. It’s something else I’m afraid. I believe it to be a rogue record in the pages table now.

Hi Jeff,
Go to your WP “pages” screen and make sure the pages installed by AWPCP are all there. Do a “quick edit” of the Browse Categories page, and see what is in the “Slug” field – that’s what defines the permalink. Now go to the AWPCP settings screen and make sure that what is in matches what is listed Browse Categories matches.

I checked the AWPCP General settings page and View Categories was there. Then I checked the WP pages and it wasn’t. So I created the page and inserted [AWPCPBROWSECATS] in the body. It still is going to the home page. I must be missing something else now! Any ideas?

Hi Jeff,

I just tried it on your site and you are correct. Have you changed or modified the name of the View Categories page in WP? Did you do it under the Pages admin section?

Please make sure the permalink of that page is set correctly. I know it’s not a problem with the plugin in general, because it’s working on the main site with the current version. I tried navigating there by hand in the address bar and it’s not coming up, so something must be off about that URL. Check that.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. I am running version 1.0.6.16 on Thesis, using the Folio skin. Everything works great EXCEPT “View Categories”. When you click that, it takes you to the home page. Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks!

This took me 2 weeks to figure out – possible documentation/onscreen prompt opportunity.

The “pages” listed on the settings page are not the pages themselves, they are the permalinks, sans dashes for the pages. Those pages were added when the plug-in was installed but even though the screen warns that there will be overwriting on save, I have not observed it to do so.

I HAVE observed that if you change your permalinks (slugs) on the auto installed classified pages in your blog, you will most likely BREAK the classified application. Your categories link might send you to the home page, your search attempt or just changing categories on the browse pages might send you to a 404 not found page. Just a couple of things you can do to yourself if you’re not careful.

@lacy, the view categories page is dynamically configured. There isn’t an actual page created for it. You should delete the page you created as that could create a conflict. Did you have trouble loading the page when you clicked on the view categories link?

The view categories page isn’t created when I activate the plugin … I tried manually creating it and putting in the shortcode [AWPCPBROWSECATS] – but that doesn’t work either?
