Deleting Categories
To delete one of your classifieds categories, go to your classifieds admin page and click “Manage Categories”. You can delete a single category in one of two ways. Either select the checkbox next to the name of the category you want to delete and click the “Delete Selected Categories” button to delete the category. Or you can click the delete icon to the right of the category name in the “Action” table cell.
When you click the delete icon it will replace the “Add New Category” form on the left of the category listings with a confirmation form for the category you are trying to delete.
If the category is an empty category it will be deleted without event once you click the “Delete Category” button.
Deleting a Child category with ads
If the category contains ads and the category is a child category, you will be prompted to select a new category to move the ads to. If you do not select a category, the ads will first be moved to the parent of that child category then the category will be deleted. Otherwise, if you select a category, the ads will be moved to the category you select then the category you are trying to delete will be deleted.
Deleting a parent category with ads and/or children
If the category is a parent category and it has ads and/or children, you will be prompted to select a new category to house the ads and children before the category is deleted. If you do not select a category, the ads and/or children will be moved to the default category, which is the category with ID #1. Otherwise if you select a move-to category the ads and/or children will be moved to the category you select.
Deleting multiple categories
When using the multiple categories deletion option you get to decide between moving ads in the categories to a new category or deleting them. Other than that deletion works the same as in the case of single category deletion. If there are ads in categories and you haven’t chosen to delete them, they will either be moved to the move-to category that you select or they will be moved to the default category with category ID value of 1.
